About CheckCostOfLiving

We build a free cost of living calculator and living expenses comparison platform for relocators, remote workers, and families evaluating international moves.

What our cost of living estimator covers

Each city page combines researched baselines with an interactive cost of living estimator. Enter income, housing type, household size, and lifestyle tier to produce a monthly price of living breakdown. The same engine supports informal cost of living converter workflows (USD salary vs local costs) and structured cost of living comparison between metros — including informal cost of life comparison searches.

Rankings and keyword intent we serve

Rankings map to how people actually search: cheapest cities to live, inexpensive places to live, least expensive places to live, most costly city in the world / costliest city in world lists, plus U.S.-oriented cost of living by state context on American city pages. Each ranking links to city calculators for a real living expenses comparison.

Data sources

Estimates synthesize public cost indexes, housing market snapshots, tax authority publications, and embassy visa guidance — reviewed editorially. Figures are starting points; neighbourhood, schools, and exchange rates move outcomes materially.

Scoring model

Cities receive 0–100 scores for affordability, tax, visa, safety, and employment. Overall score weights affordability 30%, employment 25%, tax 15%, visa 15%, safety 15%.
